Hello,

I am the happy owner of a Chassiron GC. I would like to change part of the interior floor. Is your product suitable for use inside the boat?

The current floor is glued laminate strips of CP (imitation slats) Which look like the teak deck outside. I want to keep this look, which is why your product interests me.

Your Seacork is 8mm thick. I would change the CP I have now for something that is thinner but this would mean I would lose strength, considering the amount of traffic in this area of the boat.

Would your product contribute to the structure of the boat, or would it only be decorative?

I would appreciate your advice on this matter.

P.BALLY

Firstly Seacork is not structural, but it does offer safety because it is non-slip, it is also decorative and comfortable under foot.

Secondly, concerning the thickness of Seacork, we are developing a thinner product, which we hope will be ready to launch in the market by the end of the year.

Finally, Seacork is perfect to use inside the boat but it must be treated with a finishing product to facilitate cleaning.

Please do not hesitate if you have further questions,

Kind regards,

Dominique RADIER

Hello

I am interested by your product, in plates with joints.

My panels make more than 50 X 100. In the direction of the joints, not of problem to assemble 2 plates (joined 4mm), but into transverse, how to make so that the junction isn't seen?

And which "adhesive" to employ, for joining and the joints?

Doesn't a joint sika shock, compared to the joints of the plate?

I thank you in advance for your answer

Patrick Moriaux

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Seacork.

Regarding the assembly lengthwise, this is carried out with the Silka 298, which is the same colour as wood and therefore practically invisible, once the coating is applied (see chapter one devoted to joining seacork). Therefore, there is no limit in terms of length.

When constructing a wide area, one edge is straight cut, the other side has a rabbet (channel) corresponding to the groove between two planks. Thus, perfect continuity.

To answer your last question, the plates are grooved but not caulked. The type of joint that you will use will depend on the design. At present the majority of channels are caulked with a joint polyurethane such as sika 290 cd. Other makes are available on the market with similar properties and sometimes cheaper. There is also a new possibility of caulking with MS Polymer, which has interesting properties: good resistance to U.V., long-lasting, and ease of application. TO FOLLOW......

I trust I have answered all your questions,

Yours sincerely

Thank you to answer to these questions:

it is about an area at the stern of the boat.

1) Is it better to use strips or plates?

2) Over a length of X is it possible to put end to end in length (plates or blades) to obtain X

3) is the coating "points diamond" made a thickness of 1mm compared to the smooth parts, necessary all to cover? or simply the part "points diamond".

thank you for your answer.

Mr. Vercammen

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your mail, I shall answer the questions point by point:

1) On the plan that you presented to me it is about a bathing platform. One should use plates in order to construct the area, laid out lengthways in the direction of the boat. For a cleaner finish, one can use blades in order to produce a peripheral framework. For other types of platform, with rounded angles, of large diameter, one should create blades with the correct gauge in a plate without grooves (known as virgin).

2) When laying strips or plates end to end, there is no problem, because the adhesive used to stick Seacork can also be used to join them. Indeed, at each junction, one should use a sufficient quantity of adhesive, such that a small amount will seep from the joint when the two parts are joined.. But do not forget to clean thoroughly the surplus adhesive from the grooves, and especially from the blades.

3) Regarding the diamond pattern, one can lightly sand the surface, which will help the adherence of the adhesive, on the other hand, as regards the total space to cover - this will remain your choice. Perso nally I stop just at the edge of the plane surface (left smooth + diamond pattern ground with the adhesive filling the last few remaining mm)
